What I Liked:
I loved how easy these books were to read. Each book was the perfect sized chunk. I stayed fully engrossed in each one and enjoyed being thrown into a world of eternal darkness where both monster and magic are very real. I read other things between books, but was always happy to get back to the next book.

What I Didn’t Really Like:
If I had to choose something that left me wanting, I would say I thought there could have been a little more development of the relationship with the love interest, Callan. His character has the potential for depth because of his traumatic past, but he’s a little too perfect in the present, which doesn’t leave room for growth.

Overall:
I accidentally read the Midnight Empire: The Restoration series first, not realizing the series themselves had an order. So, I was briefly introduced to the main character of this series, London, and it was nice to see how her character develops in The Tower series to become that confident, capable knight. That being said, I was very happy to note that the series easily stand by themselves, so my reading out of perfect order wasn’t detrimental at all to my exploration of the Midnight Empire world.
