Written from the perspective of Miss Willa herself, a minor character in the Blood and Ash series most known for her popular journal entries describing her steamy sexual escapades, this compendium contains summaries of events for every notable character, glossaries, background information, and a few bonus scenes.

What I Liked:
I enjoyed the bonus scenes with characters from the Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire series as well as the random Miss Willa journal entries that were quite steamy and gave an idea what Poppy and Cas must have been reading in the rest of the journal. I don’t think anyone would ever describe Miss Willa’s character as subtle, so there was little surprise when she very clearly points out a couple of areas where things will get interesting in the remaining books in the series.

What Bothered Me:
I was hoping there might be more insight or background provided to better explain underlying motivations in the individual character sections, but they really stick to exactly what happened in the previous books in the series. If you try to just read everything straight through, there is a lot of repetition between the characters because they are present for the same events.

Overall:
I think the Visions of Flesh and Blood Compendium will be enjoyed by Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire superfans that are hungry for any and all related content. It might also be helpful for the reader that is picking up the series after a long time, doesn’t remember all the details, and really doesn’t want to re-read the earlier books. I enjoyed the book a lot more when I allowed myself the freedom to skip around to the sections for which I had the most interest.
