Whenever Eden thinks Julius might finally feel something for her he pulls away leaving her to ponder whether the man she loves will choose her over societal expectations or she'll be forced to find a way to use her intellect to support her own future.
What I Liked:
The White Queen strays further from the original Pride and Prejudice storyline, but it allows Eden’s character to shine brightly. It’s nice to think that an intelligent female would have been admired and allowed to stand up for herself in such a way even if it’s not exactly historically accurate.
What I Didn’t Really Like:
For as many chess references as there are, I was surprised there was much actual chess played.
Overall:
Historical romance and Austen fans should start with The Black Knight and be prepared to read both books in this duology consecutively.
