Oraya is the human adopted daughter of the vampire king. The only way she will gain enough power to be able to make a difference is if she wins the Kejari, a deadly tournament, whose winner is granted a wish from the goddess Nyaxia.

What I Liked:
I really liked both of the main characters, Oraya and Raihn. They were outliers among their respective species, but their differences allowed them to become strong enough to battle against all odds.

What I Didn’t Like:
I wish the concept of a former lover being a weakness for Raihn was developed a little further, but maybe that’s still coming in another book. It almost felt as if Raihn fell for Oraya a little too easily.

Overall:
I thoroughly enjoyed The Serpent and the Wings of Night. It had been on my list to read for a good long while and I’m glad I finally got to it. Pick it up when you’re in the mood for the deadly competition trope.
