Heat Rating:
Based on the real events from Hedy Lamarr's life, The Only Woman in the Room what the woman experienced for a 19 year old with a budding theater career to being married to an arms dealer during WWII and finally to being a Hollywood actress while trying to support the war effort in any way possible.

What I Liked:
I enjoyed learning more about Hedy Lamarr’s life. In fourth grade, I did a report on her so remembered vague details but this book focused a lot more on her life before Hollywood (roughly half of the book).

Fair Warning:
While the book is written in first person from Hedy’s perspective, it still has a more distanced storytelling tone. Also, check the trigger warnings because abusive relationships are described.

Overall:
I think it’s worth the read for anyone that enjoys learning about outstanding women in history. I wish Ms. Lamarr’s inventions received more wide-spread recognition during her lifetime, but we can try to make up for it by learning more about her now.
