Hallie has a wake up call after a drunken one-night stand and decides to find the love of her life using a dating app. After finding Jack, her hotel room mistake, on the app, they begin an unlikely friendship and establish a pseudo-competition to find love first. Things get interesting when they start looking forward to their post-date rehash over tacos more than the dates themselves.

What I Liked:
I liked the friends to lovers storyline while Hallie and Jack are both in the throngs of dating app hell. There are a lot of very sweet moments but there is also a good balance of spice.

What Bothered Me:
It felt a bit trope heavy with hookup to friends to lovers, wager, fake relationship, and one bed, but that might appeal to some people. Also, I would have loved to see a little more development in Jack’s character arc. It seemed like he just got lucky finding what he was looking for in Hallie than working through his issues around his fear of loneliness.

Overall:
The Love Wager is very cute and has a good balance between humor and spice. Classic trope lovers should check out this story that’s jam packed full of them.
