Lucy and Joshua may both be executive assistants that share an office, but they are opposite in almost every way from personality to stature. Their days are filled with childish games all meant to get the other to crack and the intensity only gets worse when they are both up for the same promotion. It takes a unexpected high intensity situation for Lucy to reassess how fine the line is between love and hate.

What I Liked:
I think The Hating Game is a good example of workplace romance plot between colleagues that are extreme opposites. Sometimes, I need a break from billionaire bosses. I also appreciated that Sally Thorne made at least a small effort to address the awkwardness of a greater than one foot height difference between lovers, though my mind still struggles to picture the geometry.

What Bothered Me:
Even though I loved Joshua Templeman’s character, I didn’t quite understand him, his motivations, or decisions. His character is very extreme.

Overall:
I would recommend this to readers looking for a workplace romance and enjoyed The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. Also, anyone that dreads team building events at work.
