What I Liked:
I appreciated the world building with a new take on how magic and spells might work and be around us without the mundanes ever being aware. The main character El goes through a lot of personal development, especially in this third book.
What I Didn’t Really Like:
While this book was not classified as a romance, I was really hoping for more romantic themes to be present. The little romantic threads that are present felt like tiny little teasers, but there were more pressing matters of life and death that obviously got more attention.
Overall:
The Scholomance series was good, but not my favorite. I think I liked the second book the most out of the trilogy. There were a lot of deeply depressing themes throughout, especially in the third book, which left me feeling sad. If you enjoy misery lit and fantasy that has dark themes, then this might be right up your alley.
