What I Liked:
The grand gesture in the end is very reminiscent of classic romance films. I appreciated the insertion of humor to help balance out the heavier emotions.
What Bothered Me:
I don’t usually mind some emotional turmoil, but the introduction of other potential love interests for both Louisa and Sam and all the jealousy that ensued left my stomach in knots and not in a good way. It got so bad that I looked up who Louisa ends up with because I was worried the story wouldn’t follow the traditional rules of a romance since the Me Before You series is more of a Family Life Fiction.
Overall:
If you love taking a ride on emotional roller coasters and aren’t afraid of real characters facing contemporary issues, then I would highly recommend the Me Before You series, but be prepared to read all three books. While it may not have been my exact cup of tea, it was a powerful story that is written in such a way that the reader feels like they’re right there with Louisa as she finds her way.
