What I Liked:
I have a soft spot for bad boys with a spark of light brought out by the FMC, so Gage checked a lot of boxes for a swoonworthy book boyfriend including a sexy British accent. Shadow Angel: Book 1 also had multiple information reveals later in the book that flips what the reader thought they knew and keeps things interesting.
What Bothered Me:
As someone who far removed from my teenage years, I didn’t relate all that well to Tatum and her friends. They make a lot of rash decisions and are led by their emotions, which gets them into a lot of trouble.
Overall:
I like Leia Stone as an author, especially the Kings of Avalier series, but I think the Shadow Angel series is more targeted to teenage readers who enjoy paranormal romance. In this example, I tried to base my rating on expectations for YA because it’s not the book’s fault that I read an age category that’s not my favorite.
