Heat Rating:
Jane is hired as a witch to investigate strange occurrences scaring the staff at Mr. Rochester's estate, Thornfield Hall. The staff's fear of her profession and Mr. Rochester's lack of belief hinder her investigations but it becomes clear that the estate is indeed suffering from a malign influence.

What I Liked:
While the plot was very intentionally altered, the feel of the story reminded me of the original Jane Eyre with the personalities remaining consistent for many of the main characters.

What I Didn’t Really Like:
Jane Eyre was one of my favorite books when I was younger, so the absence of characters and acts from the original were very obvious to me. Some were excused and somewhat explained, but that is to be expected in a fantasy retelling.

Overall:
If you’re a fan of Jane Eyre and fantasy romance, I would still recommend Salt and Broom. However, I think it will be better recieved if you go in knowing it is very loosely based on the plot and characters so you’re not trying to pick out all the little differences.
