Iris may have gotten her brother back but she lost her new husband to the enemy god Dacre whose strategy is to heal the wounded opposition, erase their memories and enlist them back in his army. Through magically linked typewriters Iris is able to re-establish her link to Roman and nudge his memory so they can once again work together to fight for the future they want.

What I Liked:
I was a fan of Iris and Roman having to fall in love a second time because that’s my favorite part of the romance arc. I also thought that Chapter 49 was very powerful and didn’t even mind the sudden shift to many POVs to show what each supporting character was experiencing during those minutes when the entire city of Oath seemed to be holding its breath. It say it built up the suspense would be an understatement.

What Bothered Me:
After building up so high, I was a little let down by the somewhat sudden ending. There was no gradual descent into the new normal, it felt more like falling off a cliff.

Overall:
I would highly recommend the Letters of Enchantment series to fantasy lovers and history buffs. I think the WWI based setting makes the story unique and the magically linked typewriters adds a bit of whimsy to the strong romance arc.
