Arya was best friends with her housekeeper's son, but he was ripped from her life when they were caught sharing their first kiss. At 32, her beloved father is being taken to court and there's something about the opposing lawyer that catches her attention. She should stay as far away from him as possible, but she's not sure she can.

What I Liked:
I love a good story where the poor boy works his butt off to make something of himself to win the upper crust girl with a good heart. It was amazing to see Christian’s transformation from rage and revenge to realizing what’s really important.

Fair Warning:
It’s pretty rough to see Arya’s relationship with her father change as she realized that she only ever knew a small part of him.

Overall:
If you are a fan of Atonement (the book or film) then you have to read Ruthless Rival.

The Last Word:

I finished Fallen Foe and Cold Hearted Casanova which focus on the love stories of Christian’s two best friends. Fallen Foe is definitely a bit different due to Arsene being engaged and dedicated to another woman at the beginning but may appeal to fans of the Twisted series. Cold Hearted Casanova is more of a straightforward secret billionaire marriage of convenience plot but it is interesting that the FMC, Duffy, isn’t an ideal heroine in the beginning. Overall, Cruel Castaways is a solid slightly darker contemporary romance series.
