What I Liked:
I enjoyed Jeaniene Frost’s take of what it might be like if Vlad the Impaler was a vampire that still lived in our world today. It’s only fitting that his love interest would need to be a strong and unique character like Leila that is constantly challenged and has to adapt to her ever-changing circumstances.
What Bothered Me:
It’s possible that it may be revealed in a future book of the series, but I have a hard time accepting that Leila developed powers from her accident with a downed power line. I would think that some kind of supernatural intervention must have been involved.
Overall:
If you’re a fan of vampire paranormal romance, you should check out the Night Prince series. Yes, it was first published in 2012 but it doesn’t have a ton of outdated references to what was current at the time and it still very much feels like a slightly dark, gritty urban fantasy that I would be expected to be released today.
The Last Word:
I just finished Into the Fire, the fourth and final book in the Night Prince series. While the series isn’t exactly typical because the big bad villain is defeated in the third book and then the fourth book is facing a new unknown villain, I stand by my recommendation that any Dracula or vampire romance lovers should check it out.
