What I Liked:
I really appreciated the notes that the author included in the beginning of the book. Jillian West provides general background that helps the novel make more sense and prevents misconceptions like readers expecting shifters in this omniverse romance when there are none. I haven’t read a whole lot of books in that take place in the omniverse, but Not Ready seems to check off all the boxes including protective alpha males, a submissive omega female, reverse harem, knotting, and undeniable urges causes by pheromones.
What Bothered Me:
There were a few times when I thought the dialogue didn’t flow for me. There were more spicy scenes than I typcially enjoy in a single book, but that’s personal preference.
Overall:
I feel like Not Ready has a bit of a niche audience of readers that enjoy non-shifter very spicy omniverse stories and are interested in a pregnant FMC. There are a ton of pregnancy references that you may not understand if you have never been pregnant or spent a significant amount of time around someone who is. Also note that Not Ready is part of a duet and does end on a cliffhanger. I am curious to see how things turn out for Vale, so I plan to read Ready or Not relatively soon.
