When Louisa's job prospects are to become a pole dancer or a personal care attendant, she meets Will a quadriplegic that used to live a huge life. He challenges her to want more out of life and she tries to show him his life in a wheelchair is still worth living.

What I Liked:
Me Before You is one of those books that challenges the reader to open their minds and consider another perspective on a controversial issue. While the content is rather heavy and I don’t like to read them all the time, I feel like it’s these types of books that help me grow as a person. They enable me to be a more sympathetic and compassionate person.

What Bothered Me:
The ending was not at all what I expected, but I’ll be vague to avoid any major spoilers. Me Before You is part of a series and they are NOT romantic standalones, but rather each of the three books follows Louisa through a chapter of her life.

Overall:
Me Before You is a powerful story that I would recommend when you are in the right frame of mind for it. It is an emotional journey as the reader follows Louisa as she gets to know Will and better understands what it might be like to live as a quadriplegic. The ending brought tears to my eyes so be ready with the tissues.
