What I Liked:
I am normally not a huge fan of dual timelines, but I think it worked well for In the Likely Event. By mid-way through, I was laughing at the way Rebecca Yarros would leave the reader hanging at the end of a chapter only to jump to the other timeline. It was a beautiful kind of torture to have to wait to find out what happened next and the twist near the end was pretty epic and tempted me to go back and re-read earilier sections to find the clues.
What I Didn’t Really Like:
The suspense level was a little high for my personal preference. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, but I feel exhausted after finishing because I was on edge for so long.
Overall:
If you are a fan of cliffhangers, you should give In the Likely Event a read. It reminded me a lot of People We Meet on Vacation but with a military suspense plot.
