When Olivia's summer apartment in San Francisco floods she is desperate enough to reach out to her ex, Sammy for help. He graciously offers to let her stay at his house but the proximity brings up old feelings because neither ever really got over their break-up eight years earlier.

What I Liked:
I liked seeing a strong female character, like Olivia, succeed in the male-dominated world of finance. I thought it was fun that finding the best food in San Francisco was a theme throughout. I can see how Olivia’s love of research and spreadsheets would help her delicious mission.

What Bothered Me:
I found it tough to read about multiple interactions that I would think should definitely be considered HR violations. Also, I thought that maybe Olivia’s mother’s words near the end were a tad on the harsh side even for a fictional character.

Overall:
After reading the first three books in the If Love series, it was nice to finally figure out what happened between Olivia and Sammy and why they broke up when they were younger. You may particularly enjoy If We Were Perfect if you like second chance romance and can relate to familial pressure to succeed in particular areas of study and marry well.
