Violet is forced to attend the deadly dragon riding college instead of studying to become the quiet scribe of which she always dreamed. While fighting to survive, she's forced question everything she was ever told.

What I Liked:
It’s amazing to see the Violet’s character develop and change so much as she grows into our herione while faces with the near-constant threats to her life that come with attending the deadly dragon riding college. The pacing is very well done so the tension rises and falls while still building to the monumental battle at the end. Honestly, one of my favorite parts was the final chapter being written from Xaden’s POV and getting a hint of what he had been thinking the entire time.

What I Didn’t Like:
It makes me so sad when characters we have gotten to know are killed off, but I will say that I can see how the death near the end is going to sway motivations greatly in the second book.

Overall:
At 664 pages, Fourth Wing is a little longer than I normally prefer. I tend to have trouble maintaining interest in books longer than 350 pages. However, I was hooked so hard that I didn’t want this book to end. I’m so glad that the second book, Iron Flame, just came out and I can continue the story. I might break-down and actually purchase a copy myself because there are already over 2000 people ahead of me on the waitlist for a copy from my local library :-(.
