Sophie loses her only shot at staying in the small town she loves and keeping her family home when hotshot career firefighter Nick drives into town and steals the job of fire chief. Sparks fly and a miscommunication almost ruin her chances her chances at finding the kind of love she never knew she was missing.

Why I Picked It:

I previously read the Billionaire’s Shrubberies and thought it was very funny. In that book, the main characters visit Sophie and Nick in Lily Valley, so I was curious about their story.

What I Liked:
I loved that Sophie was so unapologetically herself. She’s a little awkward, but it’s funny and makes her seem all the more genuine.

What I Didn’t Really Like:
I was frustrated that what kept Sophie and Nick from being together seemed so small and easily resolved. I also felt a little unfulfilled when it came to the resolution of both Sophie’s and Nick’s family situations.

Overall:
Pick this up if you find firefighters swoonworthy and you’re looking for a quick, humorous read.
