Elise enrolls in Aurora Academy to secretly seek out who killed her brother a few months ago and exact her revenge. Her only clue leads to the so-called Kings of the Academy, so she works on getting close to the most powerful Dragon, Basilisk, Lion, and Harpy and struggles not to get too close and ruin her chances of finding the truth.

What I Liked:
Knowing this is a five-book reverse harem series, I thought Dark Fae did a great job of providing a slow burn. Yes, there are still some spicy themes and Elise feels pulled toward multiple male characters, but there’s tons of conflict to keep the reader guessing while Elise tries to find the answers she for which she is looking. Elise herself is one heck of a strong FMC.

Fair Warning:
Some of the characters have had awfully traumatic upbringings and are still in gangs etc, so the story is very dark and trigger warnings should be respected.

Overall:
If you are a Zodiac fan, you should absolutely read the Ruthless Boys series. I am following a reading order where I read the first three Zodiac and then switched to Ruthless boys before going back and I think it worked well. More of the background of Solaria is explained in the other series, which I think was helpful while reading Dark Fae.

The Last Word:
Wow! I finished the Ruthless Boys Series with Warrior Fae and it blew me away. Sure, it’s a long read at 955 pages, but I’m so impressed with the way the various storylines wrapped up and wove together answering all of the questions that had popped up in my head while reading the earlier books. I’m tempted to go back and read them all again and see what hints and clues were hidden that I didn’t pick up on the first time around. Ruthless Boys is a must read for anyone that enjoys dark reverse harem fantasy.
