Rowan and Sloane share a love for murdering serial killers. They seem to be a match made in heaven (or more likely hell) but Sloane is skittish so Rowan proposing an annual killing competition as a way to keep in contact with the hopes he'll win her over eventually.

What I Liked:
Despite the dark content, I did find Butcher and Blackbird funny, mostly because some part were so absurd. It’s an extreme example of embracing your true self and finding a partner to love you and your faults (or inner psychopath).

What Bothered Me:
There is a very nice warning at the beginning of the book so no reader goes in blind about the dark content included in the story, which I appreciated. There is a lot of death and gory detail but because Rowan and Sloane are psychopaths, most of it is glossed over as not a big deal from their perspectives.

Overall:
If you like romance, are okay with dark themes, and are looking for something completely different than the norm, I recommend Butcher and Blackbird. It’s perfect for anyone feeling like they’re in a reading slump. Also, any fans of the tv series Dexter will likely enjoy it.
