Elaina is the Town Manager of her beloved hometown and dream is to turn the historic mill into a medical outreach center but the only way it can happen is if she goes on a reality tv show with her ex, a former Mr. Universe turned-baker who left her in high school without even saying good-bye.

What I Liked:
Beefcakes was cute and funny. I wasn’t sure I was going to like the reality tv show subplot, but both Elaina and Neil had such altruistic motives for wanting to win the money that you couldn’t help but root for them to win.

What I Didn’t Really Like:
Maybe I missed it, but I was a little unclear on how Neil got into bodybuilding from art school in Boston when there was a lot of aspects he didn’t like about competitions.

Overall:
Unexpected character combos with a good amount of depth make Beefcakes a nice twist on a traditional romantic comedy, second chance lovers plot.
