Louisa is struggling to move on with her life now that her great love is gone. It takes a horrific accident of her own and an unexpected visitor to set her on the path of healing but she still needs to decide whether to play it safe or take a risk and fulfill Will's dying wish.

What I Liked:
While I haven’t experienced the same degree of loss as Louisa, I have experienced loss and I feel like Jojo Moyes does a good job representing how easy it is to feel stuck after losing someone you care about deeply.

What Bothered Me:
While I understand that Lily’s personality and what happens to her are (unfortunately) not unusual, she wasn’t my favorite character and it was a little uncomfortable to read about the types of situations in which teenagers can find themselves.

Overall:
After You is the middle book in the Me Before You Trilogy and it feels a bit like filler between the before and after. The events are necessary to illicit the necessary growth to achieve the after, but it wasn’t as profound as the first book. It’s also very much in the family life fiction genre as the development of other characters outside of Louisa and her love interest are essential to the plot.
