What I Liked:
The balance of action and suspense keeps the tension extremely high for the entire length of the book. Just when the author gives us answers to questions that plagued our minds from the first book in the series, she leaves hints and teasers that bring about new ones and you start questioning what you thought you knew.
What I Didn’t Really Like:
It’s a little hard to be so wound up for over 600 pages. There aren’t a ton of lulls in the action and suspense.
Overall:
Just like sequels to great movies, sometimes second books in a series can be a bit of a disappointment. A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire does NOT fall into that category and I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in the series (after a little bit of break with some shorter books). Just be warned that you will have so many questions when you finish this book. I honestly had trouble sleeping last night thinking of all the potential implications of the ending.
