REVIEW POSTED ONLINE: OCT 09, 2026

Ally was working four jobs to scrape enough money together to pay for her dad's nursing home. She didn't have the patience to deal with the rude guy who came into the restaurant even if he was ridiculously good looking in a scowly sort of way. She didn't expect him to get her fired for standing up to him. Feeling sorry for her son's actions, Dominic's mom offers Ally a job at their fashion magazine. Neither Ally nor Dominic want to see each other again, but Ally isn't in a position she can decline a stable income.

REVIEW

What I Liked:
By a Thread is like Pride and Prejudice got locked in a walk-in closet with The Devil Wears Prada for seven minutes in heaven and nine months later we have a romcom. Ally is the classic sweetheart who is literally working herself to the bone to take care of her dad but someone maintains a fantastic attitude and is surrounded by amazing friends. Dominic is the strong, silent, intimidating type can't figure out the puzzle of Ally and wants to fix everything for everyone trying to atone for his perceived past failures. It's a wonder recipe for disaster.

Fair Warning:
The story includes #MeToo Movement situations and implications, which may be triggering for some.

Overall:
If you've recently binged on The Devil Wears Prada and it's sequel, By a Thread may a great follow-up read to keep you in the exciting and drama-full world of fashion.
