REVIEW POSTED ONLINE: JAN 10, 2026

Diem became a healer and mostly did as she was told until her mother disappeared without a word. Determined to find answers, she ventures into the world of the Descended, a godlike race of people with powers responsible for the oppression of Mortals. The more she digs, the more complex the situation becomes.

REVIEW

What I Liked:
I finished Spark of the Everflame in two days because the tension was so high throughout. That is likely due to the amount of secrets Diem finds out are being kept from her without ever getting any answers. Diem (and the reader) can't figure out who to trust and she has a knack for making a mess out of most situations, which is quite entertaining.

Fair Warning:
Diem is an interesting combination of strong and feisty but also incredibly naive. There is a bit of a love triangle situation where Diem has feelings for both a Mortal and a Descended at the same time.

Overall:
In some ways, Spark of the Everflame felt like Powerless but with a little more spice and will be enjoyed by readers looking for the underestimated FMC making a splash in the world of the powerful.

Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
