Problematic Summer Romance

REVIEW POSTED ONLINE: AUG 10, 2025

It would be bad enough if Maya had a thing for her brother's best friend but he's also fifteen years older and never lets her forget it. Sharing a house in Sicily for her brother's wedding with Conor and not one, not two, but maybe three of Conor's exes feels like some sort of sick cosmic joke which she doesn't need while she's trying to figure out what to do with the rest of her life.

REVIEW

What I Liked:
While it can be annoying when two people who obviously like each other don't get together, I admire Conor's restraint and concern over the power imbalance there was between him, a very wealthy older man, and Maya, a recent college grad still figuring out her life. All of the things going wrong with the wedding provides a humorous backdrop to the high emotions and tension that builds between the main characters. Also, if you enjoy Irish accents, definitely listen to the audiobook.

Fair Warning:
There are some very spicy scenes.

Overall:
If you like both highly educated main characters and spice and have a soft spot for dogs, then make Problematic Summer Romance your next read.
