Avery goes from poverty to billionaire literally overnight when she's informed that a fortune was left to her instead of the Hawthorne family. In order to receive the inheritance she must live at Hawthorne House for a year which sounds easy but is made more difficult by the cohabitation of the disgruntled Hawthorne family members and a few attempts on her life. No one knows why Avery was in the will and the only chance of finding answers is to follow the set of clues left by a dead man that loved a good puzzle.

REVIEW
What I Liked:I've always liked Cinderella stories, so The Inheritance Games where Avery is a poor girl that suddenly becomes a billionaire immediately caught my interest. The story held my interest by introducing a boatload of suspense with unknown histories and motivations and the chance to find answers only by following a trail of obscure clues.
Fair Warning:There is not one clear romantic interest at least this early in the series.
Overall:The Inheritance Game is like a non-fantastical version of Caraval, but I've also heard it compared to Knives Out but with teenagers. If you like puzzles and mysteries with a decent dose of teenage angst, I highly recommend.
