After being fired from her job as a professional cheerleader, Emily has a little too much tequila and unexpectedly bonds with professional quarterback Quinn while he holds her hair back as she hurls in the bushes and then keeps her company as she sobers up over pizza and lawn games. She moves back to her small island home in Virginia and thinks she'll never see him again until social media posts emerge with details of that night and he shows up thinking she's just another gold digger looking for her 15 minutes of fame.

REVIEW

What I Liked:The interference of Emily's friends and the way that everyone on Summersweet Island knows everyone's business is hilarious. I liked Quinn as a MMC and how persistent he was in breaking Emily down to agree with his plans to keep seeing her. The bantering text exchanges were one of my favorite things about the book.

What Bothered Me:I didn't really click with the FMC, Emily, very well and was hoping to see a little different outcome with the situation with her parents.

Overall:First and Tension is a funny football and cheerleading romance that doesn't go real deep into either sport. I would recommend reading the Summersweet Island series in order if you're not a fan of spoilers, because First and Tension definitely had a few mentions of events that happened in earlier books.
