REVIEW

What I Liked:I loved the premise of the sunny, naïve woman, Evie, falling for the notorious villain, Trystan, who might have a heart buried somewhere deep inside his chest. The building of a magical medieval world was very well done. Evie's clumsiness and lack of social graces is a constant source of humor that keeps the story light.

What I Didn't Really Like:The reveal at the end made me a little sad. However, I can see how it will provide Evie with the motivation to see her into the events that she will face in book two. There is next to no steam, so read it when you're in the mood for something light and fun. The book ends with a few unanswered questions that will make you want to dive right into book two. Alas, it is not scheduled to be released until August 2024.

Overall:I would highly recommend Assistant to the Villain to anyone that likes romantasy and agree with the Goodreads Choice Award nomination in that category.
