Auren is King Midas' favored saddle and being held captive by the fearsome Commander of an enemy kingdom. She may no longer be in Midas' gilded cage but she's just as trapped and needs to ensure her secrets stay safe. It would be easier if her captors weren't so decent and opening her eyes to the possibility that she's been a pawn far longer than she realized.

What I Liked:
Glint, the second book of The Plated Prisoner series the meat of the relationship building between Auren and Commander Rip. I would recommend it to any fan of romantic fantasy and dark fairytale/folklore retellings as long as the captive aspect isn’t offputting. There’s lots of back and forth with charged banter as Auren’s predujices and beliefs are challenged and the tension is deliciously high. Raven Kennedy is amazing at slowly revealing one secret at a time in a way that makes it hard to put the book down.

What Bothered Me:
I understand the purpose of why the first book Gild setting things up the way it did, but it felt a tiny bit weird that the real romance arc didn’t really start until the second book.

Overall:
After Glint, I am hooked so hard into The Plated Prisoner series. I can’t wait to keep going. Although, I might plan to pace myself a little so I don’t have to wait too long for the sixth book, Goldfinch, to come out in September.
