When Avery's "perfect" life turns out to be faker than the name her fiance had given her, she is sent down a path of reflection via the very last phone booth in Manhattan. Not only does Avery face the ghosts of her past but she reignites her desire to become a Broadway star and auditions for a role in a musical based on A Christmas Carol.
What I Liked:
I was attracted to the idea of a modern story loosely based on A Christmas Carol. Separately, I enjoyed getting a glimpse of what it might be like to prepare for stressful auditions for Broadway muscials.
Fair Warning:
This is a women’s fiction novel with romantic elements, not a romance.
Overall:
The concept for The Last Phone Booth in Manhattan is unique. If you are a fan of Dickens and loved the tv series SMASH from a few years ago, then you will likely enjoy it.
