Macy is content with her life as a new resident and living with her fiance and his daughter until she runs into the boy she loved as a teen and hasn't spoken to for the last eleven years. He's tied to so much hurt in her life but seeing him reminds her how close they were and makes her realize she's only living a half-life. She has to decide whether it's worth the risk to…
What I Liked:
I think the dual timeline approach in Love and Other Words that showed snapshots of how Macy and Elliot developed a relationship as teenagers while moving through Macy’s uncertainty about seeing him again in the present time does serve to build the suspense up to the point of the big reveal of what happened to tear them apart in the past.
What Bothered Me:
I felt a little tension switching between the teenage chapters that read like a Young Adult romance full of awkward, naive curiosity and the present time which were clearly for a mature audience.
Overall:
If you like second chance romance rekindling from an innocent teenage love that went wrong, then you will probably enjoy Love and Other Words.
